Welcome to Susan's Miniatures! This is a new direction for me. I would like to share with you my life's passion, creating miniatures. In this blog I hope to share new projects, some old projects and the thought processes I use to create them.
I have been creating miniatures for over 30 years. In my RL career I was an Interior Designer. I always enjoyed creating a beautiful space for a client, but it was always their space. With miniatures I can create my own beautiful space, something that is uniquely mine. My goal is to create a miniature scene so real, that if you looked at a photo of it you would not be able to tell it was a miniature. I don't always suceed but I'm always happy with my finished design.
I like to work in several miniature scales. One inch (1 inch equals 1 foot) is my first love. You can get the most detail and find the best miniatures in that scale. I also have worked in half scale but now I do a lot of quarter scale miniatures. The new laser cut pieces make it much easier to create a realistic look in that small scale and it takes up a lot less space than one inch!!
Today is the day before Christmas and I'm just finishing a quarter scale project that my miniature club has been working on. It is a Gingerbread Tree House. I just have a few more touches to add and it will be complete. I'll post some pictures soon.
Thanks for taking the time to read about me. I hope in the future you will find something that you can use.
